Text Complexity & Close Reading

8:30-3:30, at PSESD in Renton, Cost $100, K-2 grade staff – 5.5 clock hours
Teachers are being challenged to provide “Regular practice with complex text and its academic language.” In this interactive session participants will dig deeper into what complex text is through the exploration and use of a variety of tools and rubrics for analyzing text complexity as well as strategies for supporting the use of complex texts and close reading with all learners. This session is geared for teachers in grades K-2 grade as they prepare students to meet the expectations of the Common Core State Standards. Participants should come with a laptop, tablet or smart phone as well as 2-3 read aloud texts that they use in their classroom.
